Mike Tyson was born on June 30th, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York City in the United States of America.

Mike Tyson's full name is Michael Gerard Tyson. He has three siblings; an older brother called Rodney and a sister called Denise. His sister unfortunately passed away in 1990. She was only 24 years old when she died and the reason for her death was heart attack. He also has a half brother called Jimmie Lee Kirkpatrick.

Mike Tyson's real father is called Purcell Tyson and he came from Jamaica. However, the man who Mike referred to as his father was Jimmy Kirkpatrick, a baseball player from North Carolina.

Mike Tyson and his siblings were raised by his mother, Lorna Mae. The man whom he referred to as his father, Jimmy Kirkpatrick, left the family not long after Mike was born.

Due to financial difficulties, the family had to move to Brownsville. Mike Tyson was ten years old when they relocated and sadly, his mother passed away six years later when he was only sixteen years old.

It was during his troublesome childhood that Mike Tyson's boxing abilities were recognized by a former boxer called Bobby Stewart. They met at a juvenile detention center where Stewart worked as a counsellor.

Bobby Stewart introduced Mike Tyson to a boxing manager and trainer called Cus D'Amato who continued to train him. Other people who were involved in training Mike Tyson included Kevin Rooney and Teddy Atlas.

Mike Tyson still holds the record of youngest boxer to win the heavyweight titles in World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF). He was twenty years old when he won these titles.

Mike Tyson won another world championship title in 1988 when he knocked Michael Spinks out in just ninety-one seconds. The name of this title is the lineal champion.
