Fun Facts on Ohio for kids | | Fun Fact 1 | The name Ohio originated from the Iroquois Indian word meaning "beautiful river" |
| Fun Fact 2 | The state flag of Ohio is unique; it is the only state flag that is not rectangle in shape. The flag is made up of the national colours. Five red and white stripes signify Ohio as being one of the five states that comprised the Northwest Territory; the stripes also represent state roads and waterways. A blue triangle represents the hills and valleys, the triangle contains 17 white stars, 13 stars are positioned to the left representing the original colonies of the US with the addition of the 4 stars on the right 17 stars signify that it became the 17th state admitted to the union. The white circle with a red center is the letter "O" the image also symbolises the nickname "the Buckeye State" |
